# Pinzon–Merin family of Bangar and Luna, La Union: relationship audit

Reviewed 19 September 2026, prompted by 12 reader reports. Before this review the atlas listed George Pinzon and his children Joy and Gary with two relationships.

## Basis for the five new links

Rachel, Aaron Kyle, Vance, Matthew and Kyle Hannah were placed on consistent reader reports plus name evidence: Rachel N. Pinzon shares Gary N. Pinzon’s middle initial, and all hold documented office. No published source states any of these five kinships. Readers disagree about Vance (son of Gary in two reports, Gary’s brother in one) and about Rachel (daughter of George in one, his sister in another), so the three younger men are linked to George as grandsons without naming their parents, and Rachel is placed as George’s daughter, which matches the shared middle initial.

## Family record

George Pinzon was mayor of Bangar (1988–1998) and then of neighbouring Luna (2001–2010), and told the Northern Philippine Times in 2007 that he was retiring to advise his children. His daughter Joy Pinzon-Merin has led Bangar since she was first elected in 2007, and his son Gary followed him as Bangar mayor (1998–2007), sat on the provincial board (2016–2022) and has been Luna’s mayor since 2022. Readers report that former Luna Mayor Rachel N. Pinzon, who took the 1st district board seat in 2022, is another daughter, that Luna Councilor Kyle Hannah Pinzon is Gary’s wife, and that Board Member Aaron Kyle M. Pinzon and Bangar Councilors Astaire Vance Iedritz P. Pinzon and Matthew Pinzon are grandsons. Their offices are documented and Rachel shares Gary’s middle initial, but no published source states these links, and which of George’s children fathered the three grandsons is not reported.

## Corrections and leads held back

- Wikipedia’s Luna article still lists Rachel N. Pinzon as mayor. The province’s 2022 joint oath-taking report and the 2025 results show Gary Pinzon as Luna’s mayor, so the atlas follows those.
- No photograph is used for Kyle Hannah Pinzon or Matthew Pinzon: the only candidate image is an uncaptioned proclamation group.
- The names of the grandsons’ parents, and George’s wife Rufina, who held no office, are not shown.
