# Garcia family of Tubao, La Union: relationship audit

## Basis for the brother and niece links

Vice Mayor Romeo Garcia and the five nieces were added on the owner’s decision (18 September 2026) on the strength of consistent reader reports and matching names: Romeo Sotelo Garcia shares the Sotelo middle name with Dante and Wilfredo, and each niece carries Garcia as a middle or maiden name (Jonalyn Garcia Fontanilla-Piayas, Geralyn “Erang” Garcia Bulao, Genefer Garcia Bulao-Madriaga, Judylyn Garcia, Gema Garcia Bulao). Their offices are confirmed by the 2025 results. No news report or official record states these kinships, and which sibling is each niece’s parent is not reported.

## Family record

Dante Garcia was Tubao’s mayor for most years from 2004 to 2019 and has represented La Union’s 2nd district since 2022; his brother Wilfredo was vice mayor (2007–2013, 2019–2022). A regional news report calls party-list Rep. Kenneth Paolo Tereng, who campaigns and works alongside him, his son. Readers report that Tubao Vice Mayor Romeo Sotelo Garcia is another brother and that five women in office are Dante’s nieces: Tubao Mayor Jonalyn Garcia Fontanilla-Piayas, who has alternated the mayoralty with him since 2013, Pugo Mayor Geralyn Garcia Bulao, Caba Mayor Genefer Garcia Bulao-Madriaga and Tubao Councilors Judylyn Garcia and Gema Garcia Bulao. Their offices are confirmed by the 2025 results and their names fit, but no news report states these kinships; they are shown on that basis. Which of Dante’s siblings are the nieces’ parents is not reported.

- Kenneth Paolo C. Tereng, KM Ngayon Na’s first nominee and representative since 2025, is Dante’s son according to a regional news video (Dma Ilocos Channel). This is a single regional source; Politiko and the party-list profile show the two working together but do not state the relationship.

- Marilou G. Bulao sat on the Tubao council in 2019–2022; she may connect the Bulao nieces but no report names her.
- Board Member Teresita “Tess” Garcia (2nd district, elected 2025) is on Dante’s slate; no relationship is reported.
